With a master of management degree, you can go on to work in a number of business fields. More and more, however, employers are looking for job candidates who have specialized experience and education. By choosing a concentration, you can boost your earning potential and prove in any job market that you’re the best person for a position in your field. One option that you’ll find in some master of management programs is a health care administration concentration.

Working in the health care administration world presents a number of unique challenge that you wouldn’t have when working in management in most other fields. There are very specific laws in the medical world, and as an administrator, it is your job to oversee the employees responsible for upholding these laws. In addition, health care administration is a very high-stress field where your decisions not only mean the difference between making and losing money, but also, in some cases, mean the difference between life and death.

A master of management degree with a health care administration concentration will prepare you to make such decisions. You’ll learn skills such as organization, leadership, and teamwork while taking courses that teach you everything from international health law to finance to public relations.

While the concentration in health care administration means that you’re most qualified for positions working in health-related facilities, the less specialized master of management degree also opens doors to jobs in non-health fields, which is not the case if you get a degree such as a master of public health or master of health administration. Having a master of management in health care administration is the best of both worlds. (See also MS in Management degree options.)
